The user usually relies on the "Google" search engine when he wants to conduct searches on the Internet, and according to what was announced by the "Statcounter" company for web traffic analysis, Google's market share reaches 90%.
Joerg Geiger, from the specialized German magazine "Ship", explained that in addition to the Google search engine, there is the Microsoft "Bing" engine, with an estimated market share of 5.5%, due primarily to the search engine's integration with the Microsoft "Windows" operating system.
The German expert confirmed that the search engines Google and Bing collect and exploit user data, especially in the advertising market. "Search results for the same term can completely differ depending on the user, as the search algorithms in Google and Bing follow the user's Internet browsing behaviors when showing search results," explained Wolfgang Steiler, from the technology portal "Technology Review".
Basically, all search engines work in a similar way. Small programs known as "crawlers" comb the web, analyze and index the content of their sites, and then these companies can access the search index when a query is made and display lists of appropriate results.
The deciding factor here is the results that appear at the top of the list. Stiller explained that Google's ranking depends primarily on the number of times a website is linked to by other users, as well as other factors such as keywords, location, or association.
Part of the secret of its success is Google's large user base and the impact it has on the network, given that the more users it has, the more users it has
