Twitter CEO Elon Musk sent a letter to employees telling them that they have until Thursday, November 17, to consider whether they want to stay "work long hours" or receive severance compensation for three months, depending on the situation. Reuters report.
Musk told Twitter employees that anyone who did not click on a link confirming "you want to be part of the new Twitter" by Thursday evening New York time will be considered quitting. "Whatever decision you make, we thank you for your efforts to make Twitter a success," the message said.
Reuters said it had seen a copy of a letter reported by The Washington Post, confirming that someone working at Twitter had leaked its content.
Musk's message said, "Going forward, making the breakthrough to Twitter v2, and succeeding in an increasingly competitive world, we'll need to be very assertive. That means long hours at high intensity. Only exceptional performance will get us to success."
The American billionaire said that Twitter under his leadership will be "more driven by engineering, and those who write great software will make up the majority of our team, and will have the greatest influence."
Twitter laid off half of its workforce earlier this November, shortly after Musk acquired ownership of the social network.
Musk criticized Twitter's spending and work culture and said the company needed significant cost cuts and restarted its services, while some employees who publicly criticized Musk said they had been let go.
